About
Background
I am a US-registered, NCARB-certified architect and designer with 40 years of professional experience, working both in the United States and Canada (I am a dual citizen). My career has given me the opportunity to provide design leadership for a wide variety of award-winning projects throughout a variety of sectors.
I completed my Bachelor of Architecture and my Master of Architecture in the College of Design at Iowa State University. I have worked in a variety of firms, from small to large and as my career progressed I gravitated to design roles, enjoying challenges both at the project level and as a Design Director.
Philosophy
My career has given me the opportunity to provide design leadership for a wide variety of award-winning projects around the globe. As Regional Design Director for HKS’ Pacific Region, I apply my love for an inclusive process of design and problem-solving to many building types with a belief that designing without assumptions, based on user- and research-based methodologies, provides a pathway to meaningful, effective, innovative and sustainable environments. Most recently, I have led complex efforts with a team of many partners as Design Director for both the University of California San Diego North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood and the Theatre District Living and Learning Neighborhood.
